Introduction
The reputation for quality and excellence enjoyed around the world by British independent schools is without equal. TWIN TUTORIAL COLLEGE, EASTBOURNE has developed this one year, full time 6th Form Access Programme as a pathway to British Independent school entry. We provide the ideal solution for overseas parents who want their children to benefit from the advantages and prestige that a private, British education can bring with it.

Twin Tutorial College offers small classes, provides a high standard of student support and integrates established English language training with academic studies. At TWIN we understand the difficulties overseas students can experience during this period of change in their young lives. Because we understand, we have been able to create a supportive, caring environment for our students going through this critical period of transition.

TWIN Tutorial College 6th Form Access Programme aims to:

  • Improve students’ English Language Proficiency so that they can study and communicate confidently at 6th Form level in a British Independent Secondary Boarding School.
    • Give our students an effective command of English in topic areas that they are familiar with and general every-day situations.
    • Develop students’ ability to understand basic, subject specific language.
  • Provide the academic subject knowledge required (IGCSE or equivalent in Math; Physics; Chemistry; Biology; Business Studies/Economics) for successful progression to sixth form studies in a British Independent boarding school.
  • Develop all of the appropriate study skills to enable pupils to learn and study within the environment of a British Independent school.
  • Provide our students with the opportunity of becoming part of a typical English family during their stay. In this way students will increase their understanding of key aspects of modern British life and culture. They will have the opportunity to develop cultural awareness and understanding within a multi-cultural, multi-racial environment. With this assistance and support our students can then enter boarding school having experienced daily & family life in the UK and possessing the confidence and ability to relate more readily to their British peers.

Students will undertake a minimum of 30 hours of classroom-based study per week. This will be supplemented with a further 10 – 14 hours per week of homework, private study and tutorials/counselling.

Tuition comprises:

  • Language Input (EFL/IELTS/IGCSE English)
  • Academic Subjects (Maths;Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Business Studies and/or Economics)
  • Supervised Study
  • Etiquette/cross cultural awareness

Progress: The progression of each student is individually assessed and monitored by personal tutors. The process is on going and allows tutorial staff to identify areas where extra support may be required and to provide this support where appropriate.
