Frequently asked questions about teaching:


Are your tutors qualified?
All Twin Group teachers are qualified to teach English as a Foreign language to minimum Cambridge CELTA or equivalent.
Do you have evening courses?
We do not offer evening courses. You can study in the morning, in the afternoon or both.
How will you assess my level?
Each student takes a short written test on the first Monday of their course, and is placed in a class of the correct level.
Do you have classes at every level?

We offer General English courses from Elementary to Advanced level, but not for beginners. Beginners must take one-to-one lessons until their level is high enough to join a class. Other course types have minimum language levels as follows:

IELTS Preparation Course: Intermediate
English for Academic Purposes: Intermediate
English for Work: Intermediate

How many hours per week will I study for?

We offer General English Courses as follows:

Basic Course: 10 hours per week
Standard Course and Afternoon Course: 15 hours per week
Standard Course + Conversation: 19 hours per week
Intensive Course + Conversation: 23 hours per week
Combo Courses: 15 hours per week in a class and 5 or 10 hours per week of one-to-one tuition

Our other courses offer as follows:

IELTS Course: 19 hours per week
EAP Course: 25 hours per week

Will I use a course book?
Yes, you will. You should buy your course book on arrival for approximately £15. If you are studying with us for a long period, you will probably need to buy 2 or more books during your course. Students studying for 1 week only do not need to buy a course book.
Do you offer one-to-one tuition?
Yes, we do. You can book one-to-one tuition on its own, or combined with class tuition as a Combo Course.
Can I prepare for English language examinations at your school?
You can prepare for the IELTS Exam at all Twin English Centres.
Can I prepare for University study at your school?
You can take a short summer English for Academic Purposes Course, or a Diploma in Hotel Management or Business Management at Twin English Centre London. These courses all give excellent preparation if you want to progress to a British University.
Do you offer Business English classes?
We offer English for Work at all Twin English Centres.
Will I be expected to do homework?
Yes, homework is an important part of your course and your development in English.  You will be given homework two to three times a week.
Can I combine my English course with work?
At Twin Group, we offer a very wide range of paid and unpaid work experience opportunities, which can be combined with an English language course or taken alone. For full details, you should visit the WorkUK section of our website.
Can I take a holiday during my course? If yes how long?

Students are allowed up to twenty days holiday in any one full year.  This means that if you study for six months, your allowance is ten days, three months five days etc.

However, if you take time off sick, this is deducted from your holiday allowance and holidays must be authorised in advance.
